Interesting week: My car was stolen, my hair went blonde and I was filmed for TV

November 28, 2015 by heatherss 8 Comments

Just when you’re riding high on the crest of the good life it can all come crashing down again. This post was in my drafts all about how I changed my hair colour (I have highlights now) and how I had TV people come and film us this week. But it is amazing how things can change and make you recognise what is important. My car was stolen.

We were at a kiddie party this afternoon (we had a really great time and I’m so glad that we went, especially as we saw family again. Nicky found some awesome lego to play with and he even had a dip in the pool and a jump on the trampoline. Plus cake of course.) We parked the car on the pavement verge outside the house across the road and went inside.

When we left at about 4:30pm I was chatting to my cousin when DH suddenly says “Where is our car?” Sure enough, in the place where our car was was fresh air. Nothing.

I think, even though it was a shock and a part of me is angry, I have to hand it to our hosts for being such a help. My cousin’s mom in law offered us a lift home via the police station. She waited with us while we filled in all the forms. Then she drove us all the way home.

I think it really puts my car was stolenthings into perspective when you realise, at the end of the day, it’s just a car.
Imagine if it was Nicky that was gone.

Nicky, by the way, was not all that fussed and I think it took a while for him to understand. I explained it a bit more at bath time this evening that people stole our car and that was why we went to the police station. He said something about “park the car” gesturing about how the car had been there. Then he went on about his party pack. Definitely a hit and a help on the trip home.

I am so glad I still have my family all still here.
I was looking back at some pictures of when I bought the car (back in 2002) (note the red hair) and it’s interesting to note that I was more busy looking at the cat (dear Leopold, he has also passed on in the meantime) than the car. Although this whole thing is going to be an expensive and inconvenient process, I think that my focus is in the right place and we will pull through.

Now onto more cheerful news.

highlightsI’m looking a little different these days. I had highlights done in my hair! I won a prize from Wenchy for a cut and blow from Judy at Ultimate Hair. The prize also included 20% off a full head of highlights, so I thought, why not? Judy is the lady responsible for Wenchy’s #purplehairdontcare. (Although I don’t quite have the guts to go purple… just yet..)

The really cool thing about Judy is that she is really close to our home. In fact she is right behind our swimming teacher’s premises. (I need to do an update on swimming sometime – Nicky is doing so well swimming on his noodle)

She did a fab job with my hair and she also gave Nicky a cut too. We both looked fantastic.

So what was the occasion for the hair do? I was asked to be interviewed regarding infertility for Channel 199 for a program called “Health Busters”. The premise behind the show is to expose dodgy products in every health sector and they wanted to ask if I’d even taken some. So I shared a bit about the chinese herbs disaster.

Well, I know it’s a pretty obscure channel that hardly anyone will watch, but hey, it was my 15 minutes of fame for me.

They took some shots of Nicky too and I’m looking forward to how it will pan out. I will keep you all posted on the date.

So sorry about the car but love your perspective in that it’s just a car and no one was hurt or anything. Your hair looks amazing and I need to know the date and time of the show on channel 199 so that I can watch it!

Loving your hair 🙂 Not great reading about your car. Hope everything is sorted by now. Whoo hoo! You’re going to be on tv. I’d love to watch. That’s if I haven’t missed it already.

    Have a great weekend.

Thanks Celeste! I haven’t heard anything about the TV yet – maybe they decided not to use it for all I know!
