News in Bullet Points

January 31, 2016 by heatherss 8 Comments

slideI haven’t blogged in a while so I thought it was time for a bit of a catch up post about what has been happening with us lately.

  1. Clearing out the clutter: There is a lot of baby stuff hanging around the house, and I am tired of feeling the weight of this stuff waiting for a new baby that isn’t going to come. It is hard to give it up but I am starting with the things I feel I really didn’t need anyway, but maybe you can help me find a good home for it.  I’m selling the play centre, bumbo, activity learner walker, walker, bouncer,  high chair and compactum. More to follow on Mom’s List!
  2. It’s really weird not trying to conceive anymore. It’s like a whole mindset adjustment. I have started drinking coffee again and I’m enjoying that. I’m going to finish up all my vitamins until they run out.
  3. Sorting out clothes: I think I have lost weight.  Trying to wear dresses, skirts and pants  and be smart for work I am finding that some of the clothes are really hanging off me. I don’t fit size 34 anymore and have to wear 32.
  4. I am in a book! Those of you who have followed this blog for a long time will know that I’ve always wanted to write a book but never got around to it. I had an opportunity to contribute to an infertility devotional and now I am on pages 44-45. The book is called Anchored in Hope and I wrote about the story about the parable of the seeds that were thrown on different types of ground and how we can choose to react in a positive way to what life throws at us. Read more in the book; it is available on Amazon.

4. I’m really enjoying my job. The other day I was just sitting by the sandpit with the kids playing around, my assistant sitting across from me, and I just felt happy. I’m really blessed to work in a stunning school and I have so much to be thankful for, particularly being able to be there while my son is educated. Yes, there have been some challenges already, but we have handled them.

5. The school also has a blog and I have started posting on there too. You can read my latest post – it all about how to make coloured rice. Every week we do a sensorial activity so I suspect I will be making lots of interesting things.

6. Nicky is doing so well. He has moved over to his big class and is learning lots of new things. It has been a good thing to have this routine in our day. There haven’t been any two AM wake ups so far and he is pretty worn out at the end of the day. He will often fall asleep on the way home but it tends to mostly be a shorter sleep so he will mostly still go to bed early. This has made for some interesting Pick n Pay trips (normally done in the morning) where he has been sleeping throughout but I’ve popped him in one of those baby trolleys so he could sleep.

This kid never ceases to amaze me for his mere existence and also for the joy he finds in simple things.

Here he is turning a kettle on and off and watching it boil.

Glad to see you happy. You manage to stay positive even when things do not seem to be going your way. Yay, for the book. I am sure it will help other women. My little one is too big for the baby thing, but I carry a blanket, which lets him sleep int he trolley. If he sleeps, we try to get an adult lunch date in, in a non kid friendly restaurant.

Glad Nicky is getting used to school and you are getting into a new routine. Congrats on the book! And I just have a sneaky feeling that your baby journey is not over yet, even if you are not actively trying. 😉

I am sorry to hear that you are no longer actively trying for another baby, but only you and your hubs can make that life altering choice. I will continue to pray that God’s will for your family be done.

Glad to hear everyone is settling down at school and that you can now enjoy coffee again 🙂
