Feeling grateful

December 1, 2013 by heatherss 5 Comments

My son. My special star.

My son. My special star.

Here in South Africa we don’t celebrate thanksgiving. But with my inbox full of news about this time I just thought now is as good a time as any to list some things that I am thankful for right now.

1. My dear hubby, who has been working so hard lately for his little family. My pillar of support and the One that makes me laugh.

2. Nicholas. Where do I even begin? A few years back I did not even know if you were going to exist or not. This boy brings me such joy.

This picture of him in the kennel has a special meaning. My dogs were my source of gratitude before he came along. A miracle and a nice surprise. So it is suitable that he is peeking out where Milo likes to sleep.

3. Family and friends. My parents are such a support in every way. My friends are good to chat to and connect.

4. Online friends.

I think it’s time again to recognize some good bloggers out there. The ones who I can’t wait to read their posts because they entertain and educate.

I’d like to single out some good ones who I like to read lately:

1) The Baby is Fine. This woman really makes me laugh. Love her posts and her adorable little boy. My fave recent post? Where the teddy bear went out the window and they had to plan a dramatic rescue mission.

2) Single Infertile Female. I just love her writing style. This lady’s excellent writing also got me through some tough times at work. I used to read her during my break. Particularly memorable was her series about the boy which she later turned into part of her book. (Haven’t read her book yet? What are you waiting for? Click here. )

3) Mud Hut Mama. This lady goes to a lot of effort to document her homeschooling in remote Africa. If you are ever planning to go that way, I recommend her blog. As an ex-teacher I like reading her ideas. I think she shows that as long as you have an internet connection and a creative spirit, there is no limit on what you can do! Oh, Jody. Here is a thankful Turkey craft just for you that I did once. I used to use enchanted learning a lot!  http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/thanksgiving/thankfulturkey/ And thanks for all the commenting. I appreciate it.

Speaking of commenting, I also want to give a shout out to the Blogalina Mommy Blogger Buddy group. You guys always comment and make me feel special, even though I am not on as often as I should be.

And thanks also go to the ICLW crew – of course you have left by now, but your comments are appreciated.

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had my dad visiting and it was nice to have family here again.

    What a lovely list 🙂
Funny, I recently joined a gratitude linkup list and wrote a new one just now. Your boy is adorable. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving either but you can’t help but think of all the things you are thankful for during this time of year.

Isn’t it amazing how our gratitude changes when these little miracles join our lives. We lived our lives, but they were always missing from them until they came to make our lives a little more complete!

Thank you so much for your kind words Heather and for that gratitude turkey craft – we will have to try it! We had Thanksgiving in Botswana this year – the first time my in-laws have celebrated. I can’t believe how big Nicky is getting – you are so right – Thanksgiving or not – there is plenty to be thankful for.

Thanks for the shout-out! 🙂 I’m glad I make you laugh 🙂 Thanks for being such a loyal reader (one of my very few…)

Nicky is too cute in the dog kennel. I love it!
