Nicky the pirate

September 24, 2017 by heatherss 1 Comment

Nicky has been busy learning about pirates this past week and he is fascinated with them.

At school he made a cute pirate hat and treasure map. I have to hand it to Julia, his teacher, who spent a lot of time burning the edges of each of the maps and making them authentically yellow with tea bags.

Nicky loved the map and carried it everywhere. He even took it with to bath time, to show his bath toys. (Parrot and Zebra have been joined by Lion and Horse. They continue to have many adventures. Recently Lion staged a big rescue getting all of them out of a pizza box).

He then wanted an eye patch and we found a set of pirate toys at a plastic shop next to the fruit and veg shop we always go to. It also had a skeleton, telescope, hook glove, treasure chests and a little gun. This little gun fires out a suction cup dart and he had lots of fun shooting it out at a mirror. There were two of them but one is already lost somewhere in the car. The gun has also broken.

He decided to fill the chests with jelly beans and promptly ate those too. We have also been hiding the treasure chests everywhere in the house.

Nicky had a lot of fun playing with these toys and learning some pirate phrases like  “Shiver me timbers”. He looks super cute with his pirate stuff. Too bad that pirates are awful scoundrels that steal.
