I hope all of you had a lovely Easter weekend. It’s good to have some time off.
My mom has been here for a few days and it’s been good to spend time with her and catch up on family news (she has just come back from the States visiting my sister). Unfortunately she had an awful trip back with too cold air con and no sleep so was pretty jet lagged as well.
But it was nice to have her around. On Saturday we also had my cousin and his kids popping in to take a wardrobe and two bookshelves (after my book sale last weekend which went well). Nicky had a fun time playing with his cousins.
Nicky and I went off to church on Sunday (after an egg hunt dressed up as a Bunny) while my mom decided to rest and defrost the fridge since she hadn’t slept. Really a good service about our debt being paid through Jesus. I also liked the emphasis on the Saturday of the Easter weekend. The waiting in hope between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Sometimes we just have to hang in there and wait before we get to the good times again. And God is in the waiting.
On Monday I had promised to take Nicky to the Rand Show so he could look at cars drifting. (His current thing). Anyway, Monday dawned rainy and cloudy. Basically an awful day to go to the show. But he was keen. So, with my media pass in hand, off we went.
The first thing we do when we get there is look for the cars. It was pretty deserted in the terrible weather and the guy offered to take us around in the mini for free. Bonus. Nicky got strapped up in the back and I sat in front. The car zipped and skidded around. There would be more car demos later I heard, so we went off to look at other things.
We also went to a Spartan exhibition where Nicky did some exercises and got a free Tshirt! Well done Nicky! He had to run, do monkey bars and lift himself up and over obstacles. He did get some help though!
The only other thing Nicky was really interested in was a balloon with glitter in it, so I finally towards the end caved and bought him one.
We had some chip ‘n dip and walked around.
The best stand for us was the Sci Bono one as it had a number of activities for our little scientist. He loves these kinds of puzzles and one of the ladies there also offered a little science experiment to show him – his favourite thing, which is explosions / rocket ship taking off.
We then did a bit of jumping castle time at the Kid Zone while listening to some singing in the background.
Lastly we went back to the cars and did some drifting again. By this time it was really pouring so we went to the car and got completely soaked. Boy did I hear it from Nicky about how this was the worst day because he got all wet. (And actually he did have a raincoat on so it was just his pants). Oh well. on the whole we made some good memories so it was worth it!
