We have had a lovely Christmas. My parents have been visiting and it’s been great to have them around. It’s been really nice to have my mom washing dishes, both of them reading bedtime stories to Nicky and also having babysitters so we can go to movies and also get things done. I am so thankful for their presence: family is what makes Christmas
On Christmas Eve it was very hot and we were all in the pool. It was a lot of fun to watch how Nicky is improving with his swimming on his noodle. DH was also trying to get him to swim without it by placing his hands underneath Nicky and getting him to jump short distances in the water.
We slept in a bit on Christmas day and didn’t make it to church because of a bit of an interrupted night, but that did not dampen our joy in watching Nicky open all his presents. (If you look carefully you’ll see the bag we used from Eleanor to put Santa’s gifts in).
The one he grabbed first was the big car track from his grandparents. This is the one he has been enjoying the most. The only thing is that he requires assistance to wind the cars up to make them go. At one point I was reading a book and winding his cars at the same time. I probably got to read a page inbetween each time!
Fortunately he has other toys to amuse himself with. He also received some lego. The lego is great for holding part of the car track up too.
He also received some minions playdough and a car whose doors and bonnet open and shut. I also gave him books with a CD.
Lunch went much better than last year. I decided to keep things simple and not try any new recipes! We made a large quantity of food which lasted for three days, which is another thing I really like about Christmas. There may be a lot of prep in the beginning, but after that you can relax and eat leftovers.
Nicky is a very blessed little boy and so am I!
Merry Christmas everyone!
