Father’s Day

June 19, 2011 by heatherss 14 Comments

My father

My father

-He is such a cheerful positive person who has taught me the importance of looking on the bright side. In fact looking at the flowers instead of the rain is something he has instilled in me.

-I admire him for starting up his hardware business by himself and now employing a load of people and having wholesalers all over the country.

I still fondly remember those days when I counted screws in his shop.

-He drove me to school for many years in the morning.

-He survived a driving lesson with me. (Only just!)

-He knows everything about cars, photography and woodwork.

-He has bailed me out on more than one occasion; most memorable was having Daddy’s Credit Card when I was stuck in Taiwan without grocery money for the month.

-He held onto me for dear life walking me down the aisle. But I was happy to have him give me away.

-I get to see him every few months when he comes up here for business trips.

Thank you, Daddy, for your cheerful wisdom and support! I appreciate you! Thank you for giving me life and love.

And to my dearest hubby, the father to my dogs, you will make the best human father I could wish for.

What a sweet post honoring your Dad!

I love your title and especially “finding flowers in the rain.” Hope you have lots of flowers ahead of you in your journey!

Visiting for ICLW! Your dad sounds so much like mine! He owned his own hardware store and I grew up there. He also loves cars and can fix ANYTHING! I also have a german shephard. They are the best dogs 🙂 Wishing you the best of luck and that you get a BFP soon!!

[…] The person most deeply affected by the accident has been my mother. She faithfully visited him in hospital every day and made sure to get there at the times the doctors would be doing their rounds so that she could get their input on whatever was going on at the time. When she had him at home she always gave the upmost of her expertise to ensure that he had the best care. She also had nurses that assisted her. I can honestly say she left no stone unturned to make sure that she had the best advice and gave all she could. But there was only so much she could do. With that weakened body he finally died on 25 October 2017, sixteen months after the accident. Nicky and I were there and my sister (who had also been flying in and out from the states during this time) came as well. We will always cherish our memories of my very special father. […]
