Two days of IUI

June 27, 2010 by heatherss 2 Comments

Hi guys!

Just wanted to let you know how things have gone the past two days.

IMG00063-20100627-0805As part of the bonuses of the fertility conference I had received a bonus 30 min consult with Elisabeth from consciousconceptions.net who had told me about my first (root) and second (sacrum) chakras were a bit out, particularly that first one, so I wore red for the first day for that first one and on the second day, well I don’t have any orange, so I wore my yellow bafana bafana top (the South African soccer team who have just bowed out of the tournament, but hey, we are still the “hosts” and I am the “host” for the baby, ok!) And yellow is a good colour for self esteem (3rd charkra, solar plexus) and I felt so much better about myself when I put it on this morning.

I also found it useful, in light of these two problems, to visualise myself very grounded and rooted (almost growing into the earth from my feet) while my head was light and connected to God.

My anxiety and sleep was not good through this process, but I kept tapping and listening to circle and bloom. During the actual procedure I visualised the sperm swimming to the egg and a light going on as the sperm swam into the egg.

I also used the EFT phrase “I deeply and completely love and accept myself” and did cascade tapping every time I went to the toilet! Cascade tapping is when you tap between the points as well. It’s nice and soft.

Well this process took two days. First you go off to the sperm bank (Cyrobank) and Brett has to give them a present! Then we wait while the sperm is washed. On the first day we went to the hospital down the road where my actual insemination was going to take place, but their kitchen only opened at 8:30 so we really had to gulp it down. I actually left him there and drove back to fetch the sperm and then went for the insemination. On the second day I had the sense to ask them where the closest open breakfast place was, and it was the Wimpy down the road. Now at least we could take our time. Rest and digest, that ‘s what it’s all about…

Well Dr Faesen (he is Dutch, if you are wondering) was really nice. I was a bit nervous about how it was going to hurt (my previous attempt with another doctor was rather incompetent, he didn’t do it on the right day and landed up taking about 7 tubes of blood out of my nether regions!) Well, compared to that disaster this was so quick and simple and not painful at all. Thank God!

The funny part was every time he inserted that sperm he said “Swim, little sperm!” I had to laugh.

Brett was very chuffed that his sperm had a mobility rate of 97% on the first day and other excellent figures. It was a little less on the second day, but apparently that’s normal when you haven’t had enough time inbetween. (we had to abstain 3 days prior to this).

Well, folks, that’s it. Now it is the Twelve Day Wait. That’s what Dr F says. And he says I should rather do a blood test than a home pregnancy test.

So basically I will know my results before term starts, but not before I go back to work (about a week away).

I have been just resting today, which has been good. Got Nando’s for lunch (Angela Wu says chicken is good to eat after ovulation – has a constricting energy. Hey I don’t know if that is true, but why not…. Just mad they gave us chips (fries) instead of wedges but I ate it anyway..

I am just grateful for everyone’s prayers and good wishes. But, basically it is done now and all we can do is wait.

Thanks for reading this. It is good to write it all out!

It does feel awesome after you write everything out!

My fingers, toes (not my legs though) and arms are all crossed for you. Hope this is a very lucky and successful cycle for you.

I’m going to read up on Chakras. Thanks for introducing me to that.
