Seven Star Wars Quotes for your life in 2016

December 31, 2015 by heatherss 5 Comments

star wars quotesIf you’re looking for inspiration to take you into the new year then look no further than the latest Star Wars installment. There’s plenty we may gleam from Rey and her fellow characters that can give us the jump start we need. Here are seven Star Wars quotes that can bring you some direction for the year ahead.

  1. Dear Child! The longing you seek is not behind you, it is in front of you. These words from the yoda like Maz Kanata are directed at Rey regarding her waiting for her family. At one point in the movie you see how she documents each day with a mark and keeps insisting that she has to get back to wait for them. The truth is hard to accept for all of us but sometimes you have to put the past behind you and focus on the present gifts. (That would be me with my infertility) This isn’t to dismiss it or not deal with it, but to love it, set it free and focus on what’s going on right now.
  2. I know how to run without you holding my hand. You have to admire Rey’s independence. She doesn’t need a man to hold her hand although she shows love and affection to Finn in the movie. Stand up for yourself in 2016. On the other hand, it’s worth mentioning that if it wasn’t for him holding her hand at times she would have been blown up. So there’s also a time to appreciate our nearest and dearest.
  3. Women always figure out the truth. Always. Han Solo says this to Finn because he is posing as part of the Resistance. We need to celebrate our intuition and use it. If something feels wrong, trust your gut this year.
  4. If you live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people. This is another good one from Maz and it’s a reminder to learn from the past. Don’t repeat the same mistakes and recognise when you are in the same situation again. Change your response.
  5. There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it? The Dark side, and the Light. This is from Supreme Leader Snoke. Your mind will always contain all the shade of the rainbow, including both good and evil thoughts. It’s important to love and accept your dark side so that it does not overpower you.
  6. You must face them, fight them. Another observation from Maz. You’ll probably have to deal with your fair share of people this year who will project their dark side on you, and it’s your responsibility to keep that in perspective and use all the parts and resources inside you to allow the Light to take the victory.
  7. May the Force Be With You. It’s rather telling that the older heroine, Leia, is saying this to the new heroine, Rey, as she leaves on her journey. Wisdom is acquired over time and we can learn from our mothers and from mentors. But most of all we need to remember that God’s Holy Spirit is also within us and it’s a powerful force for good.

I pray blessings over you, my reader, this year, that you may overcome any obstacles in your path and blaze a trail for many good things to come.
