Beautiful Stationery: Tracy Paul for Macaroon

June 11, 2014 by heatherss 3 Comments

Nicky was not impressed. In fact he lay on the floor and cried as I left. As a stay at home mom he is used to going everywhere with me. However, with my in laws and DH on babysitting duty, he would have to survive.

tracy-paul-for-macaroonToday was a special day for mom. I had been invited for “cupcakes, champagne and coffee” at the launch of Tracy Paul (artist) for Macaroon (who design stationery and accessories).

I already had a fab bag with my name on it from the #JoziMeetup. So off I went with my personalised bag for a bit of a spoil day for me.

Macaroon launched its online stationery boutique in late 2010 and the brand has become well recognised in the three and half years since. One of the company’s dreams has been to follow in the footsteps of international stationery houses and collaborate with artists to feature them as guest designers on Macaroon products. “Tracy Paul for Macaroon” is the first of such collaborations and a proud moment for Macaroon.

Tracy Paul is such an amazing, whimsical artist. I met her in person and she says she was inspired by living on a game farm where she would imagine all the animals dressing up. If you look at her illustrations of animals wearing clothes you would understand.

I think a favourite item would be the giraffe height chart, where you can measure your child’s height. There is a male and female version.

They had illustrations of huge giraffes there and we took pictures.

She also describes herself as a “frustrated ballerina”. She says she used to do ballet but she never got to wear a tutu. So now she draws lots of tutus.

She likes bluebirds too and this bird is prevalent throughout her drawings.

free-gifttracy-paul-tagsI walked away with a lovely gift of a notebook and tags. So nice to have a notebook with my name on it, and lovely tags too, each with a different illustration.

I also saw a notice that I liked, and I’m sure my dirty little Nicky would totally approve of: “Excuse the Mess: The Children are Making Memories.”
