While You Are Busy… Your Toddler Is Too…

Busy boy with objects from my desk.

Busy boy with objects from my desk.

What does your little one get up to when you are busy in the kitchen? I took some pictures of some cute things that my little one was busy with while my back was turned.

  1. Explores and unpacks my make up bag: This happened when I was busy making breakfast. This is a bit of a pressured exercise as I have to get my Dearest Hubby’s breakfast done and his lunch organized before he leaves. So when Nicky was particularly quiet, I continued to rush through what I was doing to get it done. Then he appeared triumphantly holding a little container of some of my perfume. I think he liked the pushing action of the container.
  2. Throws soil on the dog kennels and into his scooter. photo (2)This is a favourite activity. He also likes to bring handfuls of soil into the house and fling it at the dog. I have figured out that this is an affectionate gesture (similar to pouring water on me) but I make it very clear that he is not to do this. We get out our brooms (he also has a small one) and we clean up.
  3. Climbs in the dog kennel. photo (3)Today he actually wanted to bring the scooter in there too. Of course he needed help getting it all out!
  4. Unpacks my desk. There are all sorts of interesting treasures here for a toddler. He loves the rolls of sellotape and uses them like balls. We had lots of fun kicking one around yesterday. He also likes rolls of plastic, CDs, in short anything he can lay his hands on. He has even managed to reach up to the top of the desk to my cup so that he can pretend to drink from it.
  5. Unpacks the recycling plastic. photo (5)He plays with the plastic and pushes the dustbin around.

All in all he is quite a creative little chap who is just like me: he likes to be busy with something. I just need to keep an eye on him to make sure he is safe while he is doing it! Or help him clear up the mess afterwards.

What a handsome little man, he looks like he never, ever gets into mischief. 🙂 When our house is quiet I immediately know my boys are into something they are not supposed to be in.

This is so true! My almost 10-month old is into everything! He likes to get into the pantry and pull all the spices off the rack…

Yep, sounds like my house!! I’ve just moved from having a preschooler & TWO toddlers to having two preschoolers and only ONE toddler…and somehow, that difference really does make my life just a little bit easier. Found you via SITS!
